Lake Anna State Park

The Lake Anna State Park opened in 1983 and is located where the old Goodwin Gold Mine used to operate on what used to be known as "Gold Hill". The park has 2,810 acres, over 10 miles of shoreline and 15 miles of hiking trails. Download the Park's Trail Map. Swimming at the park is allowed from Memorial Day through Labor Day and has a per person fee. Swimming is available on a first come first serve basis and based on parking. If/when parking lots become full, the park road shuts down until sufficient parking spots come available. The beach and swimming area is guarded by life guards, has a concession stand and bath house open to the public. Beach hours are:

  • All weekends and holidays: 10 a.m.-7 p.m.
  • Weekdays May 30 - June 10, 2011: 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
  • Weekdays June 13 - Aug. 12, 2011: 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
  • Weekdays Aug. 15 - Sept. 2, 2011: 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
  • In 2011, the snack bar is open daily from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., except on weekdays from May 30 - June 10 and Aug. 15 - Sept. 2, when it's open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Programs are held Wednesday through Sunday from Memorial Day to Labor Day and on various weekends the rest of the year.
